Frequently asked questions
What is sclerotherapy?
Sclerotherapy (sometimes also called obliteration) is a safe and effective method of eliminating varicose veins. This minimally invasive, almost painless procedure consists of injecting a sclerosant into the veins to close them off. Anaesthesia is not needed. Sclerotherapy is a method that has long proved its worth in the ambulatory treatment of varicose veins of all types and sizes: from spider veins and reticular varicose veins to varicose veins of the perforating, side branch, and trunk veins – without the need for surgical incisions.
Depending on the size and number of the varicose veins to be treated, you may need to have more than one treatment session.
