Frequently asked questions
What happens during micro-sclerotherapy?
Micro-sclerotherapy is always performed as an outpatient procedure and does not require general or local anaesthesia. The doctor injects a specially developed medicinal product, the sclerosant, through a fine needle directly into the spider veins and small varicose veins. Inside the varicose vein, the sclerosant reacts with the wall of the pathologically dilated veins. Natural processes in the body cause the vein walls to stick together and close off the vein. The body gradually breaks down the diseased vein and it disappears.
