Varicose veins are a common disease

Here you will find answers to your questions on varicose veins

Frequently asked questions

Can I get rid of varicose veins forever?

Yes and no!

Yes, because the body breaks down the varicose veins after successful medical treatment, so that those veins disappear permanently.

No, because the predisposition to varicose veins (i.e. the connective tissue weakness) cannot be cured and some of the risk factors for varicose veins, such as advancing age, cannot be overcome. This means that no method of treatment can make varicose veins disappear forever. Even after successful treatment, new varicose veins may develop some time later in another area or next to the site already treated, making further treatment necessary. The effects of treatment should therefore be checked regularly so that any further therapy can be given promptly. Surgery, however, cannot be carried out an unlimited number of times. Sclerotherapy, on the other hand, can be repeated as often as necessary.

Generally, with the treatment methods available today you can get varicose disease well under control and prevent it from progressing to cause serious complications.
